Notes:
Change in price is the change since the last report. Prices are estimates based on delivery to dairy farms with allowance for freight, storage, and marketing costs, but exclusive of GST. Wheat prices are for the relevant stockfeed wheat available in a region (ASW, AGP, SFW1 or FED1) and F1 for barley.
Commentary
- Wheat: Up $25 ($420 to $430/tonne). Barley: Up $25 ($355 to $365/tonne). Maize: Up $5 ($375 to $385/tonne). Sorghum: Up $5 ($370 to $380/tonne).
- Weather for QLD and along the Northern NSW border has remained predominately cool and dry allowing sorghum harvest to resume.
- Wheat prices have been mostly flat with the export market influencing values throughout the past week, though feed values continue to rise.
- Barley supply from the NSW border north continues to tighten with trade buying extending into Central and Southern NSW adding support to barley prices.
- Sorghum quality has generally been mixed but continues to improve. Prices have been rising largely due a lack of grower selling although the upcoming period leading into Easter could add pressure to values.
