Sudden Drop in Milk Production

Conditions that may have a sudden effect on milk production include:

• Rumen acidosis
• Displaced abomasum (sometimes also called LDA, RDA or twisted stomach)
• Salmonella
• Pneumonia
• Metritis
• Severe mastitis
• Bovine Johne's Disease
• Facial eczema (Gippsland and Bega Valley)
• Theileria

Diseases that cause sudden death may also cause sudden drops in milk production in the early stages.
