Kemp appointed new Director on Murray Dairy Board
“I look forward to being a part of the broader conversation of dairy in our region with our vast and innovative farming styles,” newly elected Murray Dairy Board Director, Dustin Kemp said about his appointment, following his endorsement by the Board last month.
As the co-manager of a dairy farm in Lockington, Dustin has had extensive experience across all areas of dairy farming. He has completed a Certificate III in Horticulture with Wodonga TAFE, majoring in Arboriculture, and a Diploma with Dairy Australia/TAFE SA, majoring in Agribusiness Management.
Dustin has held roles as president of the Campaspe Young Dairy Network and as a member of the Goulburn-Murray Water Irrigator Customer Representative Committee, and is currently a member of the Young Farmer Ministers Advisory Committee advising Minister for Agriculture, Jaclyn Symes.
“Being involved and contritbuting in the dairy community is something I value greatly,” Dustin said.
“Dad jokes are my specialty, but I also look forward to sharing my own experiences and pathway into dairy and my enthusiasm for the region with the Board.”
Joining Dustin, Goulburn-Murray Water’s, Mark Bailey was re-appointed for a second term, as was Tongala dairy producer and Board Deputy Chair, Andrew Tyler. Having been filling a casual role from last year, Finley dairy farmer, Rachael Napier was officially appointed her first term on the Board.
Mark said, “I’m pleased to be reappointed to a skills-based position on the Murray Dairy Board. It’s a time of change in the dairy industry and I look forward to contributing for another three years.”
Andrew said, “My first term on the Board was a great experience and allowed me to gain an understanding of the diverse dairy industry in our region. I’m looking forward to continuing to build on that understanding and to work positively for the dairy industry.”
Rachael said, “I was pleased to have had the opportunity over the last six months to fill the role on the Board in a casual capacity and I am excited about the opportunity moving forward.”
Board Chair, Karen Moroney said, “Mark has been integral to providing his breadth of perspective and experience around water issues and will continue to create positive impact on Board discussions.
“Both Andrew and Rachael have a wealth of experience coming from strong farming backgrounds and with their collective knowledge, skills and experience will continue to guide Murray Dairy in the constantly changing environment we find ourselves working in.
“I was delighted with the appointment of Dustin. I am a great believer in diversity on Boards and the need for this has never been stronger than right now. Dustin will provide diversity of thought and perspective to decision making in the Board room and that can only add value to our organisation.
“Board and Management look forward to welcoming Dustin to the team in October 2020,” Karen said.
